When it comes to missing teeth, we always recommend replacement wherever suitable and viable.
Missing teeth, as well as severely damaged or decayed teeth, can cause a range of oral health problems for the patient as well as make eating and speaking difficult. They can also detrimentally affect the patient’s sense of self and smile confidence, which is something we’re always striving to give back to our patients.
Single tooth dental implants are a great way to replace a single missing or damaged tooth. Designed to look, act, and feel just as a natural tooth does, they are extremely stable, secure, and comfortable for the patient and also have the added benefit of looking almost exactly like a natural tooth. Comprised of a titanium peg that acts as the new ‘root’ for the tooth, and the prosthetic tooth or crown that sits on top of it, receiving a single tooth dental implant can take a couple of months.
You’ll first come into the practice for a consultation with one of our prosthodontic experts, and we’ll go over all your options with you. Once you’ve decided on a single tooth dental implant, we’ll first implant the titanium peg. This will be done under anaesthetic, so you’re comfortable throughout, and we can also arrange for sedation services, should you prefer. There’ll then be a wait of a month or two while the implant fuses with the jawbone. Once this has successfully occurred, you’ll come back into the practice, where we’ll place your personal prosthetic.
