Designed to increase the natural surface of the tooth, crown lengthening can be necessary when applying another restorative treatment, such as a crown, but we can also use it to address ‘gummy smiles’. There is no clinical definition of a ‘gummy smile’, but they usually occur when the teeth appear smaller than usual, allowing for more gum to be on show than a patient might desire.
Performed under local anaesthetic, crown lengthening requires great skill and training and we’re proud to be able to carry it out in practice for our patients who need it. Our team will make sure you’re comfortable throughout, with sedation services available for those patients who are nervous about receiving the treatment.
